2008-2009 Girls U10
Team Philosophy:
To coach and work with U10 girls who want to raise their level of play and have a love and enthusiasm for the game. Support their growth and work to improve their mental, physical and technical skills while in a competitive, nurturing environment. Keeping in mind, age appropriate expectations.
Short Term Plan:
Participate in the Condors open try-outs and establish a team roster of 11 to 12 players. We will participate in the 2008 Central Coast Soccer League Girls U10 division (September through November 2008); and play in local club tournaments (March through September 2008).
Long Term Plan:
The initial season our team is formed will be our building block. Emphasis will be on their skills and technical play of the game rather than their win/loss record. A re-assessment of the team at that time will be made and the new goals layed out.
Expectations:
The player will be expected to prioritize: church, family, academics, club soccer...then everything else.
Financial:
Parents will be expected to cover the cost of play and contribute to the ongoing operations of the team by volunteering their personal time to tournaments and other events. As a Coach I donate my time - trainers however, will be financially compensated.
Experience:
My experience with soccer began while I was growing up in Scotland playing soccer in the streets of Glasgow. I played through high school and technical college. When I moved to the United States in 1986, I played on the California Coast League. I moved to the state of Washington in 1992 where I played on the Greater Seattle Soccer League and the Tacoma Indoor Men's League. Currently I play here on a Men's Soccer League.
As a coach, I spent 5 years coaching a boys club soccer team in Washington, which is where I took my E Coaching license. I have been coaching for 8 years with the Five Cities AYSO soccer league during both the regular and All Star season. I received my National AYSO Coaching License last year. For the past 2 years, I have been the assistant coach for a girls Condor team, presently playing GU12 level.
Team Goal:
By starting with these girls at an early age, I can work on enhancing their technical skills and mental toughness. My goal is to make their experiences in this competitive club sport one that instills a positive attitude; a love for the game; respect from the community; and models good sportsmanship. With this foundation, anything is possible and a dream can be achieved. |
